10 THINGS EVERY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SHOULD KNOW

Here is what you should know about  University  before enrolling in it..

1. Know your bank balance

Being aware of how much you spend will go a long way in defeating a common concern for freshers – How to budget wisely. At first, your student loan may seem like an infinite amount, making it easy to splurge, especially when faced with the pricey temptations of freshers' week.

Try and plan your budget in advance, taking into account what you’ll need to put money aside for (course materials, food, bills, transport) and what that leaves you each week for everything else. Don’t waste too much money on avoidable items (takeaways, impulse clothes shopping...).

2. You can create your own society

If no societies quench your thirst for fun then you can start your own. Running your own society is a rewarding thing to do – make new friends and share your interests with a wider audience. You can start an interest group out of pretty much anything - check out these unusual uni societies  for inspiration.

Establishing your own society generally only takes completing a few forms with details of your idea and then getting supporting signatures from people interested in joining – people can be approached on campus, the SU bar etc.

3. It’s perfectly normal to feel homesick

Moving away from family and friends is a shock for everyone and it’s only natural to feel homesick every now and again. Remember, everyone is in the same boat and will be welcoming of one another - and more than half of the freshers we spoke to last year  told us they found it easier than expected to make friends.

The best way to counteract homesickness is to find a balance. Talk regularly to friends and family, but don’t overdo it. Meanwhile, familiarize yourself with the campus and your accommodation – it will soon feel like home.

4. Don't sleep through lectures

Avoid getting into bad habits with your course – they’re difficult to get out of. Start as you intend to continue and it will put you in good stead as you progress through the year.

You’ll feel the repercussions of missing any scheduled lectures, seminars or practical sessions early on. These are your opportunities to pick up advice (on how to approach your assignments or referencing), speak directly to subject experts and where you'll be introduced to key concepts and theories that will be a mainstay in your units.

5. It's never too early to think ahead

It’s absolutely fine to go with the flow in your first year and have your future in mind at the same time. Find out where the uni careers office is there you'll find advisers to speak to and possible work experience internships and others and other opportunities  to look into.

Getting involved in projects related to your future career aspirations, from the student newspaper to a legal helpline, will also provide you with relevant skills and experience and give you the opportunity to meet like-minded people (head to your careers office or SU to see what's available).

You might also want to consider getting apart time student job, for cash as well as experience.

TIPS FOR TOEFL..

 Write

  1. Send emails, make notes for yourself and write down daily reminders, using new words and common expressions. This helps with sentence structure and vocabulary.

Listen

Listen to music, online broadcasts, radio, television and movies in English. The more you listen, the more you will understand vocabulary and expressions. Music helps you acquire the rhythm and stress patterns of spoken English. Listen closely to the words.

Read

Reading is the best way to improve your vocabulary. English-language reading materials — newspapers, magazines, books and websites — are always available.

Speaking Tip

Concentrate on speaking loudly and clearly with good pronunciation and intonation. Try to speak in thought groups to have good flow to your speaking. Pause after prepositional phrases and related thought groups. Add emotion and feeling to what you are saying. Practice the same speech in your own language and then try to match the same gestures and feelings when you use English.

Keep a Journal

Write down things you are doing to prepare for college and other events in your daily life. This is a great way to organize your thoughts and practice writing in English. You can track your own progress. Read it to yourself and read it out loud.

Practice on a QWERTY Keyboard

A standard English language (QWERTY) computer keyboard is used for the test. Practice typing on a QWERTY keyboard to become familiar with the keys and layout

10 Benefits to Studying Abroad

Study Abroad
Studying abroad may be one of the most beneficial experiences for a college student. By studying abroad, students have the opportunity to study in a foreign nation and take in the allure and culture of a new land. Here is a list of the top 10 reasons to study abroad!

   1. See the World

The biggest reason you should consider a study abroad program is the opportunity to see the world . By studying abroad, you will experience a brand-new country with incredible new outlooks, customs and activities. The benefits of studying abroad include the opportunity to see new terrains, natural wonders, museums and landmarks of your host nation.
In addition, when you’re abroad, you won’t be limited to traveling in just the nation in which you are studying – you can see neighboring countries as well!

2. Education

Another reason you might consider studying abroad is for the chance to experience different style of education. By enrolling in a study abroad program, you’ll have the chance to see a side of your major that you may not have been exposed to at home.
You’ll find that completely immersing yourself in the education system of your host country is a great way to really experience and understand the people, its traditions, and its culture. Education is the centerpiece of any study abroad trip—it is, after all, a study abroad program—and choosing the right school is a very important factor.

3. Take in a New Culture

Many students who choose to study abroad are leaving their home for the first time. When they arrive in their new host country, they are fascinated by the distinct cultural perspectives. When you study abroad you will find incredible new foods, customs, traditions, and social atmospheres.
You will find that you have a better understanding and appreciation for the nation’s people and history. You will have the opportunity to witness a completely new way of life.

4. Hone Your Language Skills

Chances are if you’re planning on studying abroad, one of the major draws is the opportunity to study a foreign language. Studying abroad grants you the opportunity to completely immerse yourself in a new language, and there is no better way to learn than to dive right in.
In addition to the considerable language practice you will get just in day to day life, your host university will likely offer language courses to provide you with a more formal education.

5. Career Opportunities

When you finish your study abroad program and return home, you will return with a new perspective on culture, language skills, a great education, and a willingness to learn. Needless to say, all of these are very attractive to future employers.
Many students find that they love their host country so much that they decide to seek work there. If you can relate, you will find that a local education will be very valuable when searching for a potential job in that country.

6. Find New Interests

If you are still questioning why to study abroad, you should know that studying in a different country offers many new activities and interests that you may never have discovered if you’d stayed at home. You might find that you have an as-yet undiscovered talent for hiking, water sports, snow skiing, golf, or various other new sports you may never have tried back home.
You’ll also have the chance to discover other new and exciting forms of entertainment. Plays, movies, dancing, nightclubs, and concerts are just a few activities that you can enjoy.

7. Make Lifelong Friends

One of the biggest benefits of studying abroad is the opportunity to meet new lifelong friends from different backgrounds. While studying abroad, you will attend school and live with students from your host country. This gives you the opportunity to really get to know and create lasting relationships with your fellow students.
After the study abroad program ends, make an effort stay in contact with your international friends. In addition to rewarding personal relationships, these friends can also be important networking tools later down the road.

8. Personal Development

There is nothing quite like being on your own in a foreign country. You might find that studying abroad really brings out your independent nature. Students who study abroad become explorers of their new nation and really discover the curiosity and excitement that they harbor.
A benefit to studying abroad is the opportunity to discover yourself while gaining an understanding of a different culture. Being in a new place by yourself can be overwhelming at times, and it tests your ability to adapt to diverse situations while being able to problem solve.

9. Graduate School Admissions

Like future employers, graduate school admissions boards look very highly on study abroad experiences. Students that study abroad display diversity and show that they aren’t afraid to seek out new challenges or put themselves in difficult situations.
Most importantly, students who have studied abroad show just how committed they are to their education. Graduate schools regularly look for candidates who will bring a unique aspect to their university. Students who have studied abroad have shown that they have the curiosity and educational acumen to be a leader in graduate school.

SAVE MONEY....AFFORDABLE COLLEGES IN USA.

Tuition and Fees, Cost of Education

USA Cost/Aid Facts

The cost of the study per year (Tuition and fees, does not include living expenses) in USA varies from $5000 to $50000 (might be much more too for MBA/Medical or other programs) per year. The cost of living depends on the location. For example States like Washington, California and area around New York is costly. In general cost of living for students from countries like India, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan may vary from $6000 to $14000 (per year). It is assumed that students will live in shared apartments, live out of campus and have less telephone bills and other expenses are at bay. Most of all expenses can be met while working on on-campus jobs. The hourly pay for on-campus job varies from $5.15 to $15 per (sometimes it may be $20 or more) hour.

Foreign students can work for 20 hrs per week and 40 hrs per week during summer. Students may be allowed to work out of campus (internship) after nine months(2 semesters) of their arrival at USA. Students receiving any type of aid like TA/RA/Fellowship or GA need not have to worry about costs. Students not receiving any kind of financial aid must be prepared for tuition fees and living cost for initial 2-3 months (also please note : getting on-campus job might take some time.. earlier you come the better). In some universities like University of Missouri-Tech and University of Texas Arlington there is huge shortage of P/T jobs (why? because these are university towns and everyone is looking for P/T job on campus). So students planning to go to these universities must either have scholarships or adequate funds. It's better to contact current students via email for latest information. In some universities students can pay the fees of their last semester after graduation.

Some Universities may grant tuition waiver after first semester (if performance in 1st semester is good). It is also possible that some other department may offer scholarship (Like you might be doing MBA but you might find a software job in Medical college and they might offer you scholarships).

DO YOU NEED CONSULTANCY TO TRY USA??

So you want to study in USA but you are confuse whether to try through consultancy or do it on your own.

OK.  Lets make it clear.

when you are trying america on your own you have to prepare your document by yourself and all other related document. It has become easier to manage document as Bank Balance is not require during Visa interview. If you are able to prepare your document by yourself then i will say do it on your own. you don't need any consultancy to make you prepare for. While trying USA if you try on your own you can choose college on your own and demand more scholarship too. So i will always say if you can prepare your document on your own the do by yourself.

To read SAT and TOEFL. you can download different materials that are all over internet. OR if you don't have concept regarding that matter you can go to take classes of SAT and TOEFL.

If you think i cant prepare my document on my own. which consultancy should i go. then i will suggest you some. You probably want to go to Old consultancy. consultancy where success rate is more. and most importantly i would say go to Agent consultancy. Going through agent consultancy your visa success rate will also be more. If you want name of some Agent consultancy then you can contact me.

But after all these saying i will still say do on your own.

IMPOSSIBLE IS JUST A WORD CREATED BY SIMPLE PEOPLE.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR SAT EXAMINATION?

OK. If you are thinking of taking SAT test. you must consider somethings to get better score. If you do some better score in SAT then University will provide you good scholarship  of abroad studies. so its time to become serious in this issue. Lets get started.

1. Take practice tests

Nothing can prepare you for the SAT like actually taking the test. Block out a window of time every 1-2 weeks to take a full-length, timed practice test. Not only will this help you keep track of your progress, but it’ll also help increase your test-taking “endurance.” Sitting through   a 3 hour and 45 minute exam is grueling and you don’t want test-day to be the first time you’ve taken the full exam under time pressure. The main thing is to know strategy to do any problems. in math tactics is everything.

2. Know the test structure

With the exception of the critical reading section, questions on the SAT are in ascending order of difficulty. This means that questions at the beginning of a section are easier than those at the end. So you should not spend equal amounts of time on every SAT question. The questions at the beginning of each section should be easily and quickly answered, allowing you to save up time to devote to the harder questions at the end.

3. Read!

In addition to taking practice tests, you should also practice reading articles on unfamiliar subject matters before the test. Read a few paragraphs, then stop and try to identify the author’s argument. you cant get good mark in critical reading without studying books and different articles.

4. Write as many practice essays as possible

Planning, frantically writing, and proofreading an essay in 25 minutes may not be easy, but it is a structure you can master. The essay will always be the first section of the test, and it’ll always be 25 minutes long. The prompt will undoubtedly touch on a broad issue like justice, success, failure, honesty, the value of knowledge, or the importance of learning from mistakes. Doing test-runs of the essay will help familiarize you with this formula, ensuring you don’t waste any time on test day. Figure out a time breakdown that works for you—you’ll need to allocate time for reading the prompt, brainstorming, outlining (a rough outline is fine), writing, and proofreading. Decide on a clear, unambiguous thesis (whether you believe it or not—the SAT graders don’t want to see you waver!). Make sure you have two or three relevant examples (from literature, history, current events, or personal experience) to back up your thesis, and a conclusion that succinctly restates your main argument. reader will read your essay in the first content. two teacher will read your essay to give you mark.

5. Memorize rules and formulas

While the SAT will give you some geometry formulas at the beginning of the test, you should still memorize all these formulas, and others, before test-day. Make sure to know area formulas, the Pythagorean Theorem, the average formula, special triangle rules, and exponent rules by heart, among others. It will save you precious time!

6. Know when to guess on a question — and when to skip it entirely

If you look at a question and realize you have absolutely no idea how to tackle it, move on! Each question is worth the same — you won’t do yourself any favors by wasting 10 minutes sweating over one questions, when you could move on to problems you can actually solve. That said, if you can eliminate even one answer choice on a question, it is in your best interest to take a guess. If you don't know the answer then you know to do.why to leave question blank so guess and answer it.
